Highlights: This is a combination of south-eastern sicilian coastal and high seas offshore cruising tour. Depending the season, with the various trade winds (Scirocco-SE, Mistral-N/NW, Grecalo-NE), the high seas will be a sailor’s delight (typically at 4-8kn/h). The stopovers are a mixture of world famous historical cities (Agrigento) and former fishermen villages (Pantelleria, Licata) reached by a smooth coastal sailing mixed with two long night and day high seas passages through changing currents and maybe some strong winds around Pantelleria Island. Agrigento is recognized as the most important greek archeological site in Magna Graecia (greek colonies), with the temples of Valle dei Templi better preserved than those in Greece itself. Furthermore, the natural bright white cliffs of nearby “Scala dei Turchi” offer a spectacular and unique view from the sea. Pantelleria is a volcanic wind swept island, world famous for its incredible (and expensive) wines cultivated and produced in a unique way. Lago di Venere, the beautiful and wild coast, and the spectacular panoramic views will rest with you for the rest of your life. At certain times during the year, Licata brings together the wind and kite surfing enthusiasts. In Agrigento and Pantelleria, in particular, you can sample the excellent italian cuisine and wines, including the fresh(est) seafood you’ve ever tasted. Swimming, snorkelling, underwater scooter and SUP are the staple water activities of this cruise.
Cruise Stages:
- Marina di Ragusa – Porto Empedocle/Agrigento (58nm, 8-10h) – long day sailing
- Porto Empedocle/Agrigento – Pantelleria Island (82nm, 13-15h) – 3-6h night sailing + day sailing
- Pantelleria Island – Licata (98nm, 17-19h) – 7-8h night sailing + day sailing
- Licata – Marina di Ragusab (35nm, 5-6h) – day sailing
Moorings: Marina di Ragusa – home port; Porto Empedocle/Agrigento – marina; Pantelleria Island – marina; Licata – marina.
This cruising tour project is proposed in two formulas:
- Fast Sailor: 7 days – 1 day preparation (Villa Mireabilis, Scicli) + 4 days sailing (1 stage/day) + 2 days on shore (Agrigento, Pantelleria).
- Cruise & Fun: 10 days – 2 days preparation (Villa Mireabilis, Scicli) + 4 days sailing (1 stage/day) + 3 days on shore (Agrigento, Pantelleria) + 1 day spare/cool-off/departure (Villa Mireabilis, Scicli).
- Fast Sailor: 4000 Euros (skippered by us) + all expenses shared by the crew (marinas, fuel, food on board), including two night stays in B&B+** at Villa Mireabilis. Does not include restaurants.
- Cruise & Fun: 5500 Euros (skippered by us) + all expenses shared by the crew (marinas, fuel, food on board), including three night stays in B&B+** at Villa Mireabilis. Does not include restaurants.
* – Disembarking and departure from a different point than Villa Mireabilis, like for example Catania or Siracusa, is also possible with a price adjusted accordingly.
